As we begin week three of this super crummy situation, I want to encourage all of you to keep a good attitude and keep working out as best you can. If you have a DB, KB or a Plate feel free to sub those into the rep schemes that are presented. When I program the AT HOME WOD’s I do not include those items because not everyone has them. So use your creative genius to modify the WOD’s to fit the equipment you have.
If you haven’t heard we are starting the 800 Gram Challenge April 1…no fooling!!! For many of us who are stuck at home there is a tendency to eat a little of the not so good stuff and to eat a little too much.
What is it?? The challenge, started by OptimizeMeNutrition, is to eat 800 grams, by weight, of fruits and vegetables every day. No foods are eliminated but only fruits and vegetables count towards the 800 grams. You can eat the fruits and veggies of your choice and hit the macros you want. Raw, cooked, canned, frozen, it doesn’t matter! As long as you can weigh it as a stand alone fruit or vegetable that is unprocessed, you can count it!
Why 800 grams? Because it is associated with increased health and is a simplified way to eat the recommended servings of fruits and vegetables.
If you missed all the information that we shared over the weekend look at the Saturday and Sunday WOD page for complete information. If you want to take part, there is no charge and there will be prizes at the end, (May 1st.). Send Cal an email , (sevenvslash@hotmail.com), so that he can send you a score sheet. Below are the basic rules for our 800g Challenge.
Here is how we will score the competitive part of the 800g Challenge:
- 4 points – Eat your 800 grams of fruit and vegetables in a day.
- 1 point – complete a CrossFit type workout.
- 1 point – post your workout result on SugarWOD or text your workout and the result to Cal each day.
Weigh yourself on Monday morning, take a picture of the scale with you on it. We will weigh again at the end of the month. If you lose weight and want to that is a bonus. The best part of the entire challenge is that we learn to eat the right kind of foods.
